Seen from Earth, it never strays more than about 28° from the Sun, so it usually passes through each house within about two hours of the Sun, and at most about three hours before or after it far from the equator. When Mercury is in the morning sky, west of the Sun, it rises first and reaches every house ahead of the Sun.
