Pluto in the 11th house

How it shows up

You may have a few very close friends rather than many casual ones, and friendships may begin or end at turning points in your life. Some people with this placement are drawn to groups that want to change society, and some take a leading role in them. You may care deeply about a cause and give it a lot of energy. The 11th is a succedent house. The house’s natural sign is Aquarius, which adds themes of community and reform. Your Pluto sign shows the generation you belong to; the house shows where its concerns meet your friendships and hopes.

Strengths

You are often a loyal friend who stands by people in hard times. Many people with this placement can bring a group together around a strong goal. You tend to be good at seeing how a network or community could work better.

Challenges

You may find power struggles in groups or feel let down when friends do not share your commitment. Some people with this placement keep friends at a distance until trust is proven. Letting friendships be equal, and letting some go when they have run their course, keeps your circle healthy.

In relationships

In love you may want a partner who is also a friend and shares your hopes for the future. The opposite 5th house is where you learn to enjoy personal pleasure and romance, not only shared causes.

At work

You often do well in work with groups and social change: activism, nonprofit work, research teams, technology, community organizing or networks that help people join forces.

When is Pluto in the 11th house?

Like the Sun, Pluto is carried through all twelve houses about once a day by the turning of the Earth. Along the zodiac it moves very slowly, on average about one sign in twenty years, so the Sun overtakes it about once a year, every 367 days or so. At a conjunction the Sun passes Pluto, and for a few weeks around it Pluto moves through the houses together with the Sun, so it is in the 11th house during the middle third of the morning. About six months later Pluto reaches opposition, when the Earth passes between it and the Sun, and then it is in the 11th house during the middle third of the time from sunset to solar midnight. The latest conjunction was on January 23, 2026; the next opposition is on July 29, 2027. These are Pluto’s stays in the 11th house on four dates of 2026, in local time:

Calculated with the same Pluto, Sun and house engines as our birth chart calculator. Each row shows the first stay that begins on that date at that place. The angle from the Sun is measured along the zodiac at noon UTC, and conjunction and opposition dates are in UTC. Pluto is far too faint to see without a large telescope, so “up all night” means above the horizon, not visible to the eye.

Your Pluto sign with Pluto in the 11th house

Pluto takes about 248 years to circle the zodiac, and its stretched orbit keeps it in one sign for anywhere from about 12 to 31 years, so everyone born within the same decade or two shares a Pluto sign, and astrologers read that sign as a mark of a generation. The house is the personal part: it depends on your birth time and place, and in Whole Sign houses Pluto is in the 11th house when your Pluto sign is ten signs after your rising sign. This table pairs each Pluto sign with the rising sign that puts it in the 11th house and lists the years Pluto spent in that sign since 1900; Pluto has not been in Pisces, Aries or Taurus in that time, so for those signs the table gives the year its next passage begins. Pluto is in Aquarius now, so a child born today with Aries rising has Pluto in the 11th house. Years at the edge of a passage are shared with the neighboring sign, so your birth chart shows the exact placement. In Placidus and other quadrant systems the house cusps usually do not line up with the sign boundaries, so Pluto can fall one house earlier or later than this table shows.
