How the Moon sign is found
The Moon moves fast, about 13 degrees a day, and spends only two to three days in each sign. The calculator works out where the Moon was at your birth moment. If you do not know your birth time, it checks the whole day and tells you whether your Moon sign is certain.

How accurate is it?
Positions are calculated in your browser and checked against the Swiss Ephemeris, the reference used by professional astrologers: within a few arcseconds for the Sun, Moon and chart angles, and well under a tenth of a degree for Mercury, Venus and Mars. Historical time zones and daylight saving rules come from the time zone database built into your browser.
Questions
Can I find my Moon sign without a birth time?
Usually. On most days the Moon stays in one sign, so the date is enough. On roughly four days in ten it changes sign, and the calculator tells you when that is the case.
Is the Moon sign more important than the Sun sign?
Astrologers see them as partners: the Sun describes your identity and the Moon your emotional needs. Many people feel their Moon sign describes their private self better.
