Your public image
In public you tend to come across as serious, capable and in control. People see you as someone who can be trusted with responsibility, and you may seem older or more established than you are. Astrologers link a Capricorn Midheaven with a reputation for reliability and professionalism, and with being taken seriously early in life.
Career paths
Traditionally this Midheaven suits work with structure and authority. Astrologers associate it with management, business, government and public service, law, architecture, engineering, finance and any long career path with clear steps up. You tend to do best in roles with real responsibility and a visible ladder to climb. Unclear goals or a lack of progress can frustrate you. You often understand how organizations work, who decides what and how to move a project through the system. Building a solid reputation step by step, and keeping it, matters to you more than quick fame.
Ambitions
You want to achieve something lasting and to earn respect. Your ambition is usually strong, patient and practical: you are willing to work for years toward a position or a body of work. Astrologers say a Capricorn Midheaven often brings success that builds over time, and traditionally link it with strong years in the second half of life.
Cancer on the IC: home and roots
With Cancer on the IC, your private roots are linked with family, feeling and the need to belong. Home and the people in it may matter to you more than your serious public image suggests. You may have grown up in a close-knit family, or felt a strong pull toward family duty. A warm, nourishing home is what keeps your public ambitions going.
Challenges
Workaholism is the main risk. You may measure your worth entirely by status or let your career take over your private life. Making room for rest, play and emotional life, and remembering that success can look different at different ages, keeps your ambition in balance.
The ruler of your Midheaven
With the Midheaven in Capricorn, Saturn rules your Midheaven. Astrologers look at the sign and house of Saturn in your birth chart to see where your career energy comes from and how your public path unfolds.
How long Capricorn stays on the Midheaven
The Midheaven is the degree of the zodiac crossing the meridian, the north-south line through the point overhead, so it moves through all twelve signs once a sidereal day of 23 hours 56 minutes. Unlike the rising sign, the time each sign spends there does not depend on where you were born, only on the tilt of the Earth’s axis. Capricorn is on the Midheaven for 2 h 08 min a day, 8.9% of the day, which is longer than the average two hours, because signs near the solstice points cross the meridian slowly. Cancer, on the IC opposite, takes exactly the same time. In Placidus and other quadrant house systems the Midheaven is the cusp of the 10th house; in whole sign houses it usually falls in the 9th, 10th or 11th house, depending on your rising sign, and far from the equator sometimes in the 8th or 12th.
Rising signs that go with a Capricorn Midheaven
Which sign rises while Capricorn is on the Midheaven depends on latitude, because the distance along the zodiac between the Midheaven and the Ascendant changes through the day, and the range of that change grows with distance from the equator. The table shows, for each place, the rising signs that occur while Capricorn is on the Midheaven and the share of that time each one takes:
